Varietal Red Wine Cardunaj

Cardunaj, in Piedmontese, means land rich in thistles, wild plants that naturally grow in the sandy, sun-exposed soils of the Roero and are a typical presence in these hills.

From this native grape variety comes a particularly aromatic wine: on the nose, aromas evoke sweet sensations, while on the palate the finish remains dry and balanced. Traditionally, this grape has been vinified in a sweet style; in this case, a different interpretation has been chosen, aimed at enhancing its freshness and expressiveness also in a dry version.

Perfect with dishes that are difficult to pair, such as asparagus risotto, artichokes, or spiced ethnic preparations.

The metamorphosis

“Cardunaj” in Piedmontese means “land with many thistles”, which is why the swallowtail butterfly, often seen in the vineyards, has chosen to rest on a thistle flower to tell its story.
